Deep drawing of metal is process that allows ductile metals in the form of flat strip to be drawn through a series of dies to create a cylindrical component whose length is typically greater than its diameter. It is different to regular stamping which can create only shallow components. The image above shows how a typical component progresses from flat blank to finished product.
Special stages can be introduced to create different features like piercings, tapers, bulges, markings, threads, beads, curls and flutes.
Many ductile metals can be used, typically cold rolled steel, aluminium, stainless steel
